Synopsis

At a bleak and remote military outpost in 1863 Italy, Captain Giorgio Bachetti passes his separation from the voluptuous mistress Clara through a serious of romantic letters. Then he meets Fosca, the melancholy sister of his Colonel. Wracked with pain and broken by the injustices of life, she slowly falls in love with Giorgio, who doesn't share her emotions. Driven by pain, she methodically clouds his mind by showing him what true love really means, and Giorgio's world unravels as Fosca's expands.
