Misc. Show Information

There has only been one complete cast recording of the show (made in 1995) starring Debbie Gravitte, Jason Howard, Graham Bickley, Susannah Fellows, Tim Flavin, Alisa Ainsley, Brian Greene and Hilary Western.

The 1953 show starred Doris Day in the title role and the then MGM heart throb Howard Keel as Bill Hickock. 'Secret Love' provided Doris Day with one of her greatest recording successes and won her the Best Song Academy Award in the same year.

"Calamity Jane" started life as a Hollywood musical and then made the transition to stage, surprisingly not the other way round as most musicals often make it big on stage first, before making it into the cinema.
