Aladdin and His Wonderful, Magical Lamp
Hop on a flying carpet to visit and sing in the exciting city of Shammar in Old Arabia! Meet the adventurous Aladdin and his mischievous monkey, Alakazam. Aladdin's mother and sister are at their wit's end trying to get Aladdin to settle down. It's not easy, especially with merchants and neighbors complaining about Aladdin's tricks. One day Aladdin meets the beautiful Princess Jasmine and vows he will marry her. Aladdin, however, is visited by the evil magician, Jammal, and his wicked sister, Halima. They know that only a boy named Aladdin can enter the mysterious cave, which houses a strange lamp containing a genie who will grant Jammal all the power he craves. Tricking Jammal, Aladdin claims the magic lamp for himself and with its power, wins the princess and impresses the Sultan by building a beautiful palace. But Jammal isn't through with his evil ways! He regains possession of the lamp, kidnaps Jasmine and magically transports Aladdin's new palace to the shores of Morocco! Aladdin, in his attempt to save Jasmine, must face Chop-Chop, the executioner and, of course, regain possession of the lamp. Cheer the finale when Aladdin and Jasmine are reunited and Jammal is transformed into a new person. You'll meet not one, but three, genies, the whining Ali "Bubba" and his umbrella, the fire-breathing dragon and the haughty Sultan's wife. Thrilling and easy to produce, your audience will be charmed by a host of tunes including "Aladdin," "Old Lamps For New," and "Abracadabra." This musical fantasy will delight audiences of all ages.
Alice In Concert
Meryl Streep made a great impression in New York in this musical directed and produced by Joseph Papp at the Public Theatre. This extremely imaginative rendering of the Alice in Wonderland story is performed done on a bare stage. The actors wear modern rehearsal/play clothes as they impersonate the delightful Lewis Carroll characters. The music encompasses everything from country western to calypso, all transmogrified by Ms. Swados' inimitable style. "Ms. Swados' new dramatized cantata ... made me think of Carroll very deeply.... [She] magnificently catches most of Carroll's divine nuttiness.... Her best musical to date."-- N.Y. Post.
Alice In Wonderland
Lewis Carroll's unflappable young heroine takes a tumble down an enchanted rabbit hole to an off-kilter world of mock turtles, dancing flora, punctual rabbits and mad tea parties, where playing cards hold court and nothing is as it seems. Whimsy and wordplay are the order of the day in this imaginative musical adaptation of a favorite of generations of children, adults and psychoanalysts! This version is just good, clean fun.
All Shook Up
The new musical comedy, inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, tells the fictional story of a guitar-playing roustabout who brings romance, rebellion and rock 'n' roll into the life of a small-town girl.
All That He Was
This winner of the National Playwright's Award and the ACTF Musical Theatre Award is a moving and surprisingly funny account of one man's struggle with AIDS. The deceased functions as host and narrator, invisible among the friends and family assembled to pay him final respects. Hoping for a day when the shattered pieces can come together, he leads them on a journey of shared reminiscences. "Arches from dysfunctionalism, jealousies and misunderstandings to unsteady truces and well earned unities.... [It] carries on a bright, serious, witty and inclusive dialogue with anyone who may sit down in front of it."---L. A. Times.
Altar Boyz
This new musical comedy about a Christian boy band includes lyrics such as "Girl, You Make Me Want to Wait" and "Jesus Called Me on My Cell Phone."
